Aki Laine is experienced Design Manager with a demonstrated history of designing and shipping award winning products and experiences in the consumer electronics industry for companies such as Nokia, Hewlett-Packard and Sonos.
Aki is currently based in Santa Barbara CA, where he works as Sr. Design Manager in Product Design at Sonos. In his current position he leads the industrial design team on projects from early concepting through mass production and helps to design the enclosures and high-quality experiences for new Sonos products.
In 2004, Aki started his career at Nokia Design in Helsinki and the same job ended up taking him to Copenhagen and Los Angeles. He was the Lead Designer for numerous successful products for American, European, and Asian markets such as Nokia Lumia 900, Nokia 6600 Slide and Nokia 8800 Sirocco Edition. Prior to joining Sonos in 2015 as Principal Designer, Aki was the Senior Industrial Designer at Hewlett-Packard where he helped to craft the design direction for the whole global consumer product portfolio.
With over 14 years of experience from consumer electronics industry Aki has a solid track record in designing and delivering several products into the market. His designs, which are featured in many magazines and publications, have garnered numerous patents and awards.
Aki holds a Bachelor’s degree from Design Institute, Lahti University of Applied Sciences where he studied Industrial Design and graduated with highest honors.
